Moth Flies
Order: Lepidoptera
Occasionally caterpillars and moths will end up in the water
and become fish food. For this reason we have a few imitations
to cover this food source. The large Bogong moth (Family: Noctuidae;
Species: Agrotis infusa) is one of the more well known moths used
in fly fishing. It is a night flyer of about 23mm with a wingspan
of about 45mm and can end up in water when it is attracted to
light reflections off the water. Try fishing caterpillar imitations
dead-drift near banks or margins and adult moth patterns in the
evening or early morning dead-drift with the occasional light
twitch.
As part of our range of fly fishing flies we are committed to bring
you a wide selection of
moth flies. Help us build our stock
