Bass Diver Flies
Bass Divers are generally deerhair head flies
that float until you give them a strong strip - as the fly is retrieved
it dives below the surface creating a loud sonic signature that
alerts fish to the possibility of an easy meal on the surface. Larry
Dahlberg and Dave Whitlock have probably been the leading fly designers
in this category of Bass Divers.
Fish these divers close into structures (overhangs, weeds, logs,
etc) and modify the retrieve from fast and furious to delicate and
slow - when you get a strike, just repeat the retrieve style on
the next cast.
